“Faculty of Arts’ Dean’s Cup Reaches Thrilling Climax: Linguistics vs. Religion in Female Category, Igbo vs. Religion in Male Category Set for Grand Finale”

Faculty of Arts’ Dean’s Cup will on Thursday witness it’s final match between Department of Linguistics VS Religious Department at the female category and Igbo Department VS Religious Department at the Male category.

 

The Linguistics students in the female football games overcame their opponents in a historic manner style of scoring 3 penalty goals in the semi finals to qualify for the finals on Thursday. The match as a result ended in 3-0 against Music department.

 

The female teams from the department of Linguistics and Religion will battle for the first prize position on Thursday.

 

According to Miss Ejikeme Favour a 200L student of Linguistics department who spoke to the press, their dedication and commitment from the onset has been remarkable as she hope they will keep their energy higher for the last fight and have a firm grip on the cup.

The Director of Sports, Faculty of Arts Mr Idam Gilbert Chukwuka a 400L student of History and International Studies noted that the competition aims at unifying the students. He therefore called on the University Management to help in the provision of adequate football peach in the University so as to encourage all round development of the students.

 

The Faculty president Comrad Chibuzor Raphael while addressing the press opined that the competition will help to regenerate the spirit of Unionism among the faculty Students. He advised them not to forget their visions and missions in school while indulge in other extra curricular activities which makes them whole as scholars. He thanked their Faculty dean Prof Alvan Ikoku Nwamara and their Staff Adviser Dr Chinedu Mbalisi for their commitment in the students’ welfare which brought every of their dreams into reality.

 

According to him the finals which will take place at the University Coke Center Field, will have the winners in the female category smile home with the Dean’s prize of N20,000 while their male counterparts will go home with N30,000.
