Mgbuke Village will square up against Ozzuh Village in the grand finale of the Ebubechukwuuzo Unity Cup holding in Umunnachi Community, Dunukofia LGA of Anambra State.
Mgbuke saw off Nagbana village 9-8 on penalties after a pulsating encounter that ended 2-2 at the end of regulation time while Ozzuh Village also booked their place in the finals seeing off defending Champions, Umueze by 4 goals to 1 after the game ended in a scoreless affair at the end of regulation time.
Ebubechukwuuzo Unity Cup will have a new champions on Monday, 6th January 2025 when both sides face off in the final scheduled to hold by 3pm at Igwebuike Migrant Field Mgbuke, Umunnachi.
The Ebubechukwuuzo Unity Cup which is being sponsored by High Chief Mmaduabuchi Egboo (Ebubechukwuuzo) has five villages of Umunnachi Community comprising of Umueze, Nkwelle, Ozzuh, Mgbuke and Nagbana villages featuring in the soccer fiesta which kicked off on Thursday, 26th December 2024.
The winner of the Ebubechukwuuzo Unity Cup will take home the sum of 500 thousand naira while the second and third placed teams will smile home with the sum of 300 thousand naira and two hundred naira respectively with the competition accommodating individual award such as the Highest Goal Scorer expected to take home the sum of 20,000 naira.
According to the competition’s benefactor, High Chief Egboo, the competition is a platform made available for the teeming youths of Umunnachi community to discover and showcase their sporting prowess through the instrumentality of football.
High Chief Egboo emphasized that the football competition will solidify the bonding existing in the community and provide a platform for the youths of the community to be engaged meaningfully during the festive period.
The community chieftain hitherto advised the teams to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and ensure discipline is topmost during the course of the competition.
