Bishop Ikeakor Berates The Country's Leaders For  Insensitivity To Plight Of Citizens 




The federal government has been challenged to take proactive steps in tackling the hydraheaded monster of insecurity in the country. A Frontline Cleric and Bishop of Amichi Anglican Diocese, the Rt Rev Ephraim Ikeakor, made the call while delivering his presidential Address at the just concluded 2nd Session Of the 6th Synod of the diocese held in Immanuel Church, Akwaihedi in Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State. Bishop Ikeakor expressed dismay at what he described as consistent silence of the government in the midst of daily mass killings of innocent Nigerians by suspected herdsmen across the country. He advised the President to rise up to the challenge by giving strong directive to security agencies to stem the tide of insecurity in the country. While recognizing that Nigeria is a nation blessed with abundant resources, the prelate chided the ruling class for widespread hardships, weaponisation of hunger and poverty, unemployment among other problems the citizens are facing. 

Speaking on the theme of the Synod: Heathens In Church Uniforms: An Urgent Call For Re-Evangelisation And Proper Discipleship Of Church Members, the bishop noted that it will take intensional steps in righteousness to restore the fallen standards in the body of Christ. While acknowledging that the church has been inundated by people who are not real worshippers, Bishop Ikeakor challenged the clergy and laity of the diocese to reflect soberly on the theme and make amends where necessary.

The Bishop acknowledged the hand of God upon the diocese which has resulted in various projects being undertaken in the diocese such as the the Diocesan College Of Education, Episcopal Building, Equipment of the Diocesan Covent and Seminary schools with state of the art computers , expansion of the Diocesan College Of Nursing Location among others.The Bishop also presented a cheque of five million naira to an outstanding Priest,    Reverend Canon Chiedozie Madu for his personal building project, under the Diocesan Housing Scheme for the Clergy.

In his speech at the Synod, the Bishop of Awka Diocese and Arch Bishop of the Province of the Nigeria, Most Rev Alexander Ibezim, commended Bishop Ikeakor for his consistent progress in the diocese and challenged church leadership and members to win souls for Christ.

Highlights of the Synod was cutting of the Synod cake, choir renditions, preferrment of some of the clergy to Reverend Canons and Arch Deacons among others.
The Synod which started on Thursday 19th June  and ended on Sunday 22nd June 2025, was attended by Bishops from other Anglican Dioceses across the country, government functionaries, traditional rulers, and other dignitaries.
