By Amaka Madu State Project Coordinator at International IDEA,Josephine Onah called on Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to take a leading role in advocating for the enactment of crucial laws that promote justice for citizens. Specifically, she emphasized the need for the passage of the Criminal Code Bill and Correctional Service Bill. During a planning meeting with CSO partners, Onah stressed the importance of these organizations pushing for the passage of these bills and subsequent full implementation. She also highlighted the need for protection orders to be issued to victims during court proceedings. Furthermore, Onah emphasized the role CSOs can play in ensuring speedy justice delivery, particularly on health-related issues and laws such as the Child Rights Law and Violence Against Persons (VAP) Law. She noted that the enactment of these laws would significantly benefit victims and survivors. Onah made these remarks as part of the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) Anambra initiative, which has been working towards this goal since last year by submitting two bills to the Attorney General which she said is presently at the Anambra State House of Assembly awaiting hearing .
