The Student Affairs Unit at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, yesterday May 21st organized a one-day retreat and training for its staff at the ASUU Secretariat.
The primary objective of the retreat was to enhance service delivery among staff members, which was deemed crucial for human development.
In his opening speech, the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Bierenu Nnabugwu Makordi, highlighted the department’s recent achievements, including digital orientation for the 2024/2025 student union government, timely issuance of university identity cards to first-year students, and organization of a free NYSC mobilization orientation.
He emphasized the need for collective effort towards achieving efficient service delivery and encouraged participants to strive for excellence.
The Sub-Dean of Student Affairs, Mr. Chinedu Mbanisi, stressed the importance of ensuring that students leave the department’s offices with smiles and a sense of fulfillment, as they are often the students’ last resort.
The Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Dennis Aribodor ,Former Asuu Chairman Unizik commended the department for organizing the retreat, noting that such training had not taken place in a long time, and advised participants to be attentive.
Four training lectures were delivered by resource persons, including Mrs. Nnenna Nwadike on work ethics, Pastor Eze on goal-oriented values, and Prof. Chijioke Abah on achieving human resource effectiveness.
The training concluded with the issuance of certificates to participants and a token for the most attentive participant.
