Prof. Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi Receives Sir Ahmadu Bello Distinguished Leadership Award 2025

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi has been honoured with the Sir Ahmadu Bello Distinguished Leadership Award for 2025.

This award recognises her exceptional leadership and contributions to national development.

The award ceremony took place on Wednesday, 17th September 2025, at the Vice-Chancellor’s office and was attended by prominent individuals, including Comrade Godiya T. Adams Bogoro, President of the Northern Youth Forum Association of Nigeria (NYAN), Comrade Dauda Sambo, Organising Secretary of NYAN, Comrade Iloduba Oluchukwu Winifred, Liaison Officer for the Southeast, Barrister Philomena Okoye, the immediate past Registrar of UNIZIK and Mr Njelita Louis, Acting Director of Public Relations, UNIZIK, among others.

NYAN conferred the award to recognise Prof. Arinze-Umobi’s exemplary contributions and significant impact on Nigeria’s development, particularly in the realms of academic and leadership advancement.

“The award ceremony aims to honour individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities and an unwavering commitment to public service,” the president stated.

In her response during the ceremony, Prof. Arinze-Umobi described the recognition as a motivation to further enhance her service delivery through exceptional leadership and capacity building. The recognition attributing her efforts in addressing infrastructural challenges and promoting stability at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
