It is a new dawn at Ekwueme Centre for Multidisciplinary Research Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka as Prof Martin Ifeanyi Okeke takes over as the 5th Director of the Centre after Prof Makodi N. Biereenu-Nnabugwu the immediate past Director.
Prof Biereenu-Nnabugwu while handing over the mantle of leadership to the new director of the center, expressed gratitude to God who enabled the centre give birth to a new Institute under his watch as a director.
According to him the Institute for Peace, Security and Development Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka came into existence under his watch in the year 2022. Today, the institute has about 20 post graduate students in the 2023/2024 academic year with Prof Jaja Nwanegbo as it’s new Director.
Prof Martin Ifeanyi Okeke Director, Ekwueme Centre for Multidisciplinary Research, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka in his remarks thanked the out gone director for the efforts made in keeping the Centre moving and promised to bring his knowledge and professional expertise together with the aid of his Deputies in moving the Unit to it’s promised Land in line with Project 200 vision of our dear Vice Chancellor Prof Charles Okechukwu Esimone, FAS.
Hon Barr Uchenna Okonkwo an illustrious son of Aguata in reaction expressed gratitude to God for a successful handover to the new director and assures him of their communal goodwill in the execution of his mandate.
Present at the handover ceremony were, Prof Jaja Nwanegbo Director Institute for Peace Security and Development Studies, Dr Nkechi Orji-Agu the immediate past deputy director of Ekwueme Centre and current Head of department Cooperative Economics, Dr Bonaventure Uzoh Current Deputy Director for Ekwueme Centre and immediate past Head of department Sociology and Anthropology, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, among many others.
