Rule of Law and Anti Corruption (RoLAC) organized a day work shop for CSO’s and the media in Anambra State to establish Civil society and Media Accountability and Anti Corruption Network which will champion System that will strengthen the drive against Corruption,provide independent monitoring and oversight of diverse operations of the Government.In her opening speech The project Coordinator for Rolac in the state,Mrs Josephine Onah enumerated some of the key projects of Rolac towards good governance to the people and the need for CSO’s to come together as one and to harness collective power to drive home Anti corruption issues.. especially in public institutions in the state.She stated that corruption is a thorn in the flesh eroding and depleting the wealth of the masses and as such called for a joint effort from the CSO’s and Media in the state to help the masses in monitoring and evaluation of Governance towards reducing Corruption to it’s bearest minimum,.through effective communication process.MR Ololo Onyeka of the Justice Development and peace caritas(JDPC) spoke on the need to institute Anti Corruption strategy in Anambra State to get viable results through Coalition, Networks and capacity building.
Mr Ololo highlighted basic principles for effective Coalition which involves Mutual respect,open communication and Transparency geared towards shared leadership.,decison making as well as apt evaluation and improvement.
Mrs Ugochin Freeman who is the Executive Director of Creative minds enumerated all Advocacy visits done so far by the sub unit on Audit which she stated was a step towards Putting it across to the Government to support and establish bill on Audit law in the state.And therefore called on the CSO ‘s and Media to hold Government accountable to ensure that all the reforms and Advocacy are sustained not allowing Rolac alone to carry out the campaign against Anti Corruption in the state.She was later appointed the coordinator of the civil Society Organization and Media Accountability and Anti Corruption Network,While Mr Alfred Ajayi of Federal Radio Cooperation of Nigeria Awka will serve as her deputy.The workshop ended with the participants Drafting a work plan of Activities for the next 3 months.Participants were drawn from Selected CSO’s and Media in the state..
