KNCV Nigeria,A National Non Governmental Organization dedicated to the fight against tuberculosis and other diseases of public health concern has highlighted it’s Community Achievements within the outgone year’ of 2024 in Anambra State.
The State Technical Officer Global Fund N-THRIP in Anambra Mr Precious ILUEME highlighted major Community based projects so far in Anambra State during A quarterly Steering Committee Meeting on N-THRIP Grants in Awka, where Stakeholders and partners took time to enumerate Community projects within the 21 local government of the State.Mr precious enumerated different Achievements of the KNCV in the state in terms of interventions with reference to 2 years of global funding in Nigeria as he stated that KNCV is poised to do full job in it’s commitment on TB by collaborating with the private sector, Religious organizations,and private owned hospitals in the state.
Furthermore, Specific Activities to be implemented in GC7 according to Mr . Ilueme includes Community TB screening, Diagnosis and Referrals for Treatments,HIV Screening, Diagnosis, linkage for Treatment, samples shipment, support for experts in the field .,Emphasizing that treatment for TB is still free in the state,while calling on the need for stakeholders to promote demand for people to be sensitized in Churches, Mosques about TB that it’s 100 percent curable.
Other community projects includes Establishment of Xray Centers in HGS ‘s for adults and Children especially for Children that are indigent , provisions of Test kids and drugs , availability of working tools in Traditional Birth Attendance centers, distribution of Cartridges for testing of TB across Anambra State as stated by MR.IG Ejiofor,the State Quality Assurance Officer..
Reacting to some Challenges by the community based officer’s,Mr Obinna Ideke who is the Chairman of the Committee encourage the CBO ‘s to always be timely in sending consumption data for easy accessibility as he lamented that reporting rate is very poor ,and also ensure that there is synergy between facilities in the state and their traditional Birth Attendance officers as this will help in building a concrete Action plan..
Stakeholders present which includes representatives of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Muslim Community, Nigeria Union of journalist (NUJ),TB network and KNCV partners in the state all promised to contribute it’s quota in ensuring that Ndi Anambra are well sensitized on everything about TB including it’s treatments as the Commemoration of World TB day draws near in the Month of March.
