COOU Breaks 5-year Jinx, Concludes 11th-15th First Degrees Combined Convocation Ceremonies

-Acting VC, Ikeakor ,Others Appreciate University’s Quantum Leap

The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University has successfully concluded the 11th-15th Convocation Ceremonies for its first degree bolders spanning 2019-2024 academic years.

Under the Prof.Kate Omenugha administration , her visionary leadership is on the March to achieve greater exploits.

With the accreditation of all the courses in the university particularly in the field of Medicine, the citadel of learning is progressively surpassing the achievements of some of its sister universities in Nigeria.

In a speech at the Convocation Ceremony at Igbariam,Governor Chukwuma Soludo represented by the Commissioner for Education Prof.Ngozi Chuma-Udeh appreciated the giant strides the university has recorded under Prof.Kate Omenugha and promised to sustain its support to the university.

The acting Vice Chancellor in a speech,noted that one of the greatest strengths of the university is sustaining a stable academic calendar occasioning the completion of courses by students in record time.

Prof.Omenugha apologized for the inability of the university to conduct previous Convocation Ceremonies spanning 5years due to the covid-19 pandemic and other draw backs ,and promised that going forward,the university will continue wirh the annual tradition of yearly Convocation Ceremonies.

The Vice Chancellor of the Paul University Awka Venerable Prof.Obiora Nwosu in a goodwill message to the university, paid glowing tribute to Prof.Omenugha for lifting the status of the university to enviable heights.

The Provost College of Medicine Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu teaching hospital Awka and the pioneer Chief Medical Director of the teaching hospital Prof.Law Ikeakor whose joy knew no bounds, appreciated the giant strides the university has made under Prof.Kate Omenugha.

According to Prof.Ikeakor a quintessential medical guru, the accreditation of the medicine faculty by the National Universities Commission and the institution of the Ojukwu Legacy awards are milestones of a greater future for the university.

The medical expert congratulated the 333 medical students who successfully graduated with honours as Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery,and urged them to go into the world and conquer as worthy ambassadors of the university.

In his acceptance remarks,the best graduated student in the Microbiology department -Faculty of Natural Sciences for the 2023/2024 set, Rev.Fr.Henry Nnadozie with a CGP of 4.65, and from St.Theresa Amaufu Isu LGA Orlu Diocese, expressed joy over his success.

Fr. Nnadozie expressed delight that the university has successfully broken the 5-year jinx of inheriting backlog of Convocation Ceremonies from 2019 to 2024.

The cleric noted that the secret of of his success anchors on hard work, diligence and following the teachers instructions during Lecrures.

He used the forum to express joy that the NUC has accredited all the courses in the university.

The best graduated student in the university from 2019 to 2024 graduated class Mr.Valentine Ifejika of the Music department scored a CGP of 4.87.

In his speech,he commended Prof.Omenugha for the giant strides the university has recorded under her watch and urged his fellow graduated Students to go into the world and conquer.
