*NAU Faculty of Education Hosts 12th TRCN Induction Ceremony with Focus on Entrepreneurship and Life Skills*


The Faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, held her 12th Induction Ceremony on October 28, 2025, at the University Auditorium, to usher its graduates into the teaching profession under the TRCN. ( Teachers, Registration Council of Nigeria) 

The Acting Vice chancellor, ably represented by the former dean of the faculty of education, Professor Ada. Sam Omenyii gave her address welcoming the distinguished guests and congratulating the students on their induction. She reteriates the importance of teaching as a profession, having its ethics and code of conduct, also the importance of AI being incorporated into the education system. She advices the newly inducted graduates to equip themselves with the cognitive, effective and psychomotor capacityes and competences to follow the new advancing digital age. 

One of the major highlights of the event was Barrister, Doris Chinedu-Okoro, who was present as the 12th induction lecturer, gave her lecture, a standing Icon, who believes In the transforming power of education, she encourages the students that they are privileged to be in the profession as teachers, further stating that well-knowledgeable teachers are the next big thing, with various opportunities in researching that could propel them in their various endeavors. She also offered free training scholarships to the 10 best graduating students, that would open to them seamless opportunities. 

Special guests and awardees present at the ceremony were chief Dr, Eric Umeofia, President & Chief Executive Officer, Erisco limited; Dr, Nonso Smart Okafor; former member, Anambra state house of Assembly MD, Reapfold properties limited; Prof Nkechi Ikedigugwu, Chairman PPSSC,Anambra state; Dr Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi, Executive Chairman Anambra SUBEB; Dr Nelson Omenugha SSA to the governor of Anambra state on youth and empowerment program; Architect Chukwuka okonkwo, MD,OC bravo Global Nig.Lid; Barr.(Mrs) Doris Chinedu-Okoro and Hon Chukwuka E. Nwankwo SSA to the governor of Anambra state on environment and beautification. 

Other highlights of the event was the Oath taking ceremony and the Unveiling of the journal prepared by the graduates and was led by Prof Ngozi Agu. 

A final address was given by the Registrar of TRCN, DR Ronke Soyombo by one of her representatives, reiterating that the inductees were not just receiving a certificate but embracing a noble calling, stepping into a role that demands not only knowledge and skill, but also integrity, compassion and an unshakable believe in the transformative power of education. 
She reiterates that TRCN is resolute in mission to elevate the teaching profession in Nigerian, having embarked in a series of bold reforms and innovation designed to ensure that every teacher is equipped to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world. One of the most significant undertakings is the compressive reform of the Professional Qualifying Examination. "PQE" . Based on reforms to fit the 21st century, the following are the core subject areas newly imputed into the PQE are Numeracy, Literacy, Information and Communication Technology, Pedagogy and safe guiding. Stating that it represents the foundational competences that every first 21st century teacher must possess. 

The event which started with the procession of the newly graduated students from the various faculties of education ended in bliss with the LOC Chairman and subdean, Faculty of education. Prof Asiegbu Chidubem Emmanuel gave the vote of thanks.
